Hello, and welcome to my blog DomesticMonkey. I’d like to explain that my husband nicknamed me Monkey and turns it into all sorts of descriptive-cutesy ways of referring to me. So, when I needed to come up with a blog name this seemed to fit.
I turned 29 years old this November, 2014. I’m always working on or thinking about projects, have long written online about other subjects (spamming those journals with my projects,) and I decided it was time to dedicate a blog to household projects and cooking.
Anyway, I am married to the most wonderful man ever. We have five cats. So far no luck starting a family, but the next round of IVF may do the trick (fingers crossed.) I have a degree in fashion design from FIT, and we live in NYC for now. I’ve been in the city for a decade this year, and I’ve looooong wanted to move away since I am a farm girl. Happily we are in contract on a house now, and that’ll give me plenty of projects for this blog too! I hope you’ll enjoy!
12th of July, 2015 Update: We moved to a house away from the city this late winter, and I am thrilled about it. It has given me more projects to tackle than I know what to do with. 😀 I’m now working as a freelance fashion designer in NYC, so unfortunately I’m not completing so many things at home lately. However, I still try to cook interesting things and do have
some many home improvements and furniture refinishing tasks on my to-do list. I’ll be writing about them as much as I can. 🙂
